Refused a refund despite me cancelling in the grace period from fewo

My wife and I stayed in this townhouse for 4 nights in late May 2026. On the plus side, it has an excellent location in old Valletta, 5-10 minute walk to all Old City points of interest. It also was quiet, located in a residential area. We did not use the kitchen facilities so can’t comment on those. Our main complaint is that the Expedia website (and VRBO) for this townhouse advertises in several places that there is parking on site, which was the main reason we chose this townhouse since we had a rental car. That is a blatant lie - there is no parking anywhere in the area for non-residents and never has been. You can pay to park outside the Old City, a 20-25 minute walk. There were many nicer, less expensive places we could have stayed if we had’t wanted the parking. The townhouse was quite dark and dank, and very humid. There is only one bathroom, located on the floor below the bedrooms, a dark trip down the stairs if you need the bathroom during the night. There were no towel racks, which made it difficult to dry our towels, especially with the humidity. The upstairs bedroom was missing several lightbulbs, making it even darker. Finally, the front door is very difficult to lock/unlock from the outside. A code box would be much better. We still enjoyed seeing Malta, but wish we had stayed somewhere else, especially due to the false advertising about available parking.

Great location and a great stay overall!!! Host was very responsive but not in the app—in email!! We landed very early and unfortunately we couldn’t store our bags there until 1 pm so we had to take them with us. Luckily the cafe just down the street on the corner near the sea was quite accommodating. There is also a little beach cafe just down the stairs from the cafe where you can cool off which was lovely. The bathroom is on the first floor and the bedroom is on the 2nd. There is not really any AC on first floor and it’s a bit musty but it is a very old home but there are two AC units upstairs in each of the rooms!!! Bring your own shampoo as there is not any there. The 2nd bedroom upstairs is a pull out couch which was fine but I was not aware of this because often I wasn’t able to see the listing. I reached out to vrbo and the host about this issue which they said was just a frequent glitch. The place is super close to so much in Valetta which was wonderful especially during the festa season. Overall highly recommend!
